Spring Picnic at the Farming Through The Decades Museum
What an amazing picnic and representation of decades of farming and agriculture equipment, tools, toys and memorabilia. 100 tractors on display and 10,000+ pieces of agricultural heritage are quite an understatement. Ron Grosjean has put together one of the finest displays to ever be seen. With 2+ buildings and 3 stories tall you needed more a day to see it all. There was a plow room with every type of early plow you could imagine, probably more than 100. As you moved through the museum you would see collections of oil and gas products, lanterns and boat motors. There was a great collection of road equipment, graders and rollers. There were custom toys throughout with some incredibly unique combines, pedal tractors and crawlers. I even seen the rare toy chainsaw. There is a wooden silo, grain drills, wagons and tillage equipment. I seen an area of chicken equipment and supplies; and hog equipment – I never knew there were so many different styles of hog oilers made. The walls are covered in old wrenches and barbed wire styles of all kinds. Memorabilia is everywhere, from signs, calendars, small trinkets, and a whole display of ashtrays in miniature tires. The tractor collection was great with many high crop tractors, rare and unique models everywhere.
We had somewhere around 100 members attending, it was hard to count for everyone was looking and moving throughout the museum. Our food was excellent, fried chicken and pulled pork, potato wedges and all the homemade sides and desserts. I am sure no one went home hungry.
