Ashtabula Show – July 4th-6th

This was an amazing little show.  The Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club have their own facility of 60 acres in the Williamsfield area.  This show grounds is in the middle of nowhere.  It is nicely developed with a lot of shade trees and multiple building housing displays of all kinds.  Buildings setup as museums for agriculture of the past, steam engines, gas engines, a sawmill, a plowing event, flea market, crafts, Chinese auction, pie auction and much more.

In front of our tent was the area for the tractor pulls.  Kiddie pedal pull – which we had a prize for each of the winners, garden tractor pulls, and 2 days of antique tractor pulls giving us track side seats!  There were food vendors, and their kitchen had a 5 O’clock dinner bell where there were excellent dinners served at very reasonable prices.

There were 43 Olivers on display making this one of their largest feature displays.  We met many exceptional people and gained 6 new members.  The Bower Family from the area displayed 14 tractors and implements.  Donna (Duane) Tricker of Kinsinger drove her S55 15 miles to the show at the age of 83!  John Gustina brought his crawler, Tim Eckenrode brought 4 tractors and a plow.  Bruce Groweg and Cass (his mother) displayed their 60 and Wheelhorse mower and helped in the tent all weekend; Thank You!  Bruce pulled the little kids barrel train around with his 60.  Larry had his grandfather’s 77 on display.  This was a great show and I hope we get to be the feature again soon.
